Distributed Generation Certified Professional
AEE's Distributed Generation Certified Professional (DGCP) program is designed to provide recognition for professionals who have distinguished themselves as leaders in the distributed generation field. The designation DGCP identifies individuals who have demonstrated high levels of experience, competence, proficiency, and ethical fitness, bringing to their professional activities the full scope of knowledge essential to the effective development and management to today's distributed generation projects.
Objectives
- To raise the professional standards of those engaged in distributed generation.
- To improve the practice of distributed generation by encouraging professionals in a continuing education program of professional development.
- To identify persons with acceptable knowledge of the principles and practices of distributed generation through completing an examination and fulfilling prescribed standards of performance and conduct.
- To award special recognition to those professionals who have demonstrated a high level of competence and ethical fitness for distributed generation.
Eligibility
Applicants must meet one of the following eligibility criteria:

4-year related* degree OR Professional Engineer (PE) OR Registered Architect (RA) | AND | 3+ years related* experience |
4-year unrelated degree | AND | 5+ years related* experience |
2-year associate degree | AND | 5+ years related* experience |
NONE | 10+ years related* experience | |
Current status of Certified Energy Manager (CEM®) |
*Related degree in science, engineering architecture, business, law, finance, or related field and related experience in cogeneration or distributed generation.
Requirements
All DGCP candidates must attend one of AEE's preparatory DGCP training seminars, submit a DGCP certification application, and pass an open book examination, which is proctored by an approved exam administrator.
The examination is based on an approved Body of Knowledge, which includes the main subject areas and the percentages of each included in the examination.

Candidates wishing to take an international certification program should contact the local training provider for seminar, certification application, exam registration, and fees.
