Global Awards
We recognize the highest achievements in energy around the world. Recognition of excellence by one's peers and other professionals in the energy industry is the purpose of this program. International Awards Categories are:
Presented to an individual for outstanding accomplishments in promoting the practices, principles and procedures of energy engineering, and for superior service to the Association. The recipient must be a registered professional engineer (P.E.)*.
*Exceptions may be made to P.E. requirement for highly qualified engineers in countries without Professional Engineer licensing.
Presented to a private sector corporation, agency, or organization for outstanding accomplishments in developing, organizing, managing and implementing its corporate energy management program, and for superior service to the Association.
Presented to a public sector institution, agency, or organization such as City, County, State, or Federal; a University or K-12 (kindergarten through 12th grade, either public or private), etc. for outstanding accomplishments in developing, organizing, managing and implementing its comprehensive energy management program, and for superior service to the Association.
Presented to an individual for outstanding accomplishments in training and development of energy engineers and managers, and for superior service to the Association.
Presented to an individual for outstanding accomplishments in promoting the practices, principles of energy management and development, and for superior service to the Association. Usually awarded to a corporate director of energy or energy manager performing duties for an industrial firm, or building owner/manager.
Recognizes an innovative energy management project in the United States that has been in operation for at least six (6) months and can be substantiated with actual installation costs and operating savings.
Recognizes an energy management project developed and installed outside the U.S. The project is often recognized for its first-of-a-kind approach in the country where it has been installed. However, even more conventional projects with significant success (savings and/or visibility) are also encouraged. Because the awards are based on installed and successful projects, future plans and goals are not considered. The project must have been in operation for at least six (6) months and able to be substantiated with actual installation costs and operating savings.
Recognizes an innovative energy management project. Special consideration goes to projects that are first-of-a-kind approach in the country where it has been installed. However, even more conventional projects with significant success (savings and/or visibility) are also encouraged. Because the awards are based on installed and successful projects, future plans and goals are not considered. The project must have been in operation for at least six (6) months and able to be substantiated with actual installation costs and operating savings.
Recognizes an innovative energy project (includes renewables and green projects, and those making significant impact on climate change) that has been in operation for at least six months and can be substantiated with actual installation, operating costs and achievements. This is a broad category, and all projects are given fair consideration.
Presented to an individual for outstanding achievement and innovation in promoting the adoption of renewable, green, or other innovative energy technologies.
Presented to an individual 35 years of age or younger on January 1, or the Award Year (ex. Jan 1 2022 for the 2023 Award Year), who has made outstanding contributions to the energy profession and to the candidate’s community in any or all of these areas: educational and collegiate achievements; professional and technical society activities; civic and humanitarian activities, continuing competence; energy management achievements; climate change activities and achievements; and renewable energy activities and achievements.
Regional Awards
Regional Awards recognize achievements in energy within AEE's 15 regions around the world. Regional Awards Categories are:
