Certified Sustainable Development Professional
The Certified Sustainable Development Professional (CSDP®) program recognizes individuals with expertise in Developing & Implementing Sustainability Programs, Environmental Issues, Alternative Energy & Carbon Reduction, Sustainable Policy Programs, Energy Efficiency Technologies in Sustainable Buildings, Impact of Sustainable Development Policies, Renewable Energy, Sustainable Transportation, Water Conservation and Financial Assessments.
- To raise the professional standards of those engaged in sustainable development.
- To improve the practice of sustainable development for buildings, industrial plants and governmental facilities.
- To identify persons with acceptable knowledge of the principles and laws governing the practices of energy efficiency and pollution prevention related disciplines.
- To award special recognition to those individuals who have demonstrated a high level of technical expertise in energy management and environmental practices.
Applicant must meet one of the following eligibility criteria:
|4-year engineering/architectural degree OR Professional Engineer (PE) OR Registered Architect (RA)||AND||3+ years related* experience
|4-year degree in business (or related field)||AND||5+ years related* experience|
|2-year associate degree||AND||8+ years related* experience|
|Current Status of Certified Energy Manager (CEM)||AND||3+ years related* experience|
|NONE||10+ years related* experience|
*Related experience in energy efficiency and pollution prevention, or sustainable development.
If you do not meet one of the eligibility criteria above, you can still apply for an in-training certification, CSDP-IT. In order to gain the in-training certification, you must attend a CSDP preparatory training seminar or obtain a degree from an approved training provider, submit the CSDP-IT certification application under step two below, and pass the CSDP certification examination. The CSDP-IT certification is valid for six years, which allows you time to meet the full CSDP certification eligibility requirements.
All CSDP candidates must attend one of AEE's preparatory CSDP training seminars, submit a CSDP certification application, and pass an open book examination, which is proctored by an approved exam administrator.
The examination is based on an approved Body of Knowledge, which includes the main subject areas and the percentages of each included in the examination.
