CWEEL’s Success at WEEC – “Follow the Money” – Literally!

First, a 22 karat/7.2 gram gold coin ($300 approximate value)  was graciously donated by the AEE Kuwait Chapter. The CWEEL board decided to leverage the gold coin as a fundraising opportunity and sell raffle tickets to raise CWEEL scholarship funds.  We raised $1,000 in two short days!  The drawing was held at CWEEL’s evening networking reception on Thursday.  The lucky winner, Cedreck Davis of AEE ‘s Huntsville, Alabama Chapter insisted that he wanted to “pay it forward” and politely refused to accept the coin.   Therefore, CWEEL plans to sell raffle tickets again this year at WEEC in October and the drawing to be held at the CWEEL reception on Thursday evening.

 

 

 

 

CWEEL’s breakfast meeting was a tremendous success as well.  To encourage attendance, the CWEEL board decided to raffle off an Amazon Echo Dot.  The raffle was open to all CWEEL breakfast attendees.  It worked! The session was well attended and Michelle Sipe Exaros from Lutron Electronics, Co., Inc. won the prize.  Everyone in attendance won because our keynote speaker, Kim Greene, Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer, Southern Company gave a very engaging talk about her job and experiences related her journey towards becoming a successful woman leader in the utility industry.
