AEE Pakistan Organizes Workshop on Establishing First Ever Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency Cluster in Pakistan

United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in collaboration with Punjab Energy Efficiency and Conservation Agency (PEECA) organized the consultative workshop on  establishing the 1st ever Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Cluster in Pakistan. The cluster concept aims to provision sustainable platform for creating energy partnerships through articulation of stakeholders and provide support mechanisms to promote sustainable drive of RE and EE technologies and approaches in Pakistan. In this regard, a workshop was organized to sensitize the concept of cluster within the  relevant stakeholders from Industrial sector , RE technology suppliers and solution providers , academia and the public institutions. The stakeholders endorsed the idea of the cluster and provided their feedback on enabling the cluster for development of integrated Energy network of the professionals to provide services and support  to the Industry on RE and EE.

Mr. Faiz Bhutta, President Association of Energy Engineers ,Pakistan Chapter was also present on the occasion and provided his inputs related to sustainability of cluster and its operational framework. A  healthy discussion was held on determining the roles of the stakeholders in specific the Public institutions , industrial associations and academia for the development of the cluster and its sustainable operation. The overall concept of R3E cluster is relatively new in Pakistan however, eventually it will greatly  help  in overcoming barriers related to Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency (EE) implementation in industries through providing them a interactive platform where they could Stay connected with a well knitted network of Energy Professionals, Consultants, ESCOs , RE/EE  solutions providers , R&D institutions as well as could learn from each other experiences and success stories

The cluster will play an integral role in reducing the cost of doing business through helping the industry reducing their energy bills. From an environmental perspective it will contribute in reducing the GHG emissions in industry through promoting of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency technologies and approaches. Moreover, the cluster will pave way for economic growth and job creation by promoting the RE/EE industry through research and innovation.  

AEE Pakistan Chapter acknowledges this unique initiative by UNIDO and PEECA and will  render its possible support  towards development of the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency cluster in Pakistan.
