The most significant commercial savings opportunity exists within indoor linear LED lamps & fixtures when installed with networked controls. Networked LEDs have the potential to substantial decrease energy load in the commercial sector (by as much as 193 TWh of first year savings). In addition to energy savings, commercial LED projects can deliver a variety of non-energy value to the building and its occupants. User demand is growing for light quality and controllability of light. More research is available on how light can promote health and wellbeing, which can dramatically enhance the indoor environment. Non-energy benefits from networking lights such as space utilization, asset tracking and building system integration can revolutionize building operations. This upgrade opportunity will be ubiquitous among C&I customers, with an estimated 850 million linear fixtures available nationwide for replacement or retrofit.
