Lighting the Way to Energy Efficiency

At the start of 2024, AEE staff was presented with a challenge; to ‘walk the walk’ of energy efficiency. As an organization centered around making strides towards a more energy efficient world, we understand the importance of bringing these practices into our own lifestyles. With a recent surge in staff receiving AEE certifications, we saw a great opportunity to bring their skills to in-office projects.

Recognizing lighting as the ‘low hanging fruit’ of energy efficiency, we embarked on a mission to ensure that all staff members have LED light bulbs in their homes, mirroring our office which operates on 100% LED lighting. EEP-certified staff members, Cameron Sonefeld and Rachel Hobson, took on the project to ensure that all staff members were provided the best-fit bulbs for each individual home.

After conducting a comprehensive survey, we purchased and distributed LED bulbs to all staff members in need. The transition to LED lighting is not just an environmentally conscious decision, but also a financially sound one. Our calculations show a simple payback period of just 4.8 months and an impressive return on investment (ROI) of 244%.

This initiative underscores our commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency. Together, we’re not just working under brighter lights, but also paving the way for a brighter, greener future.
