AEE Volunteer Position:

Ricson Chude,P.E., C.E.M.,C.E.A.,C.M.V.P., is a professional engineer, speaker, and instructor that focuses on innovation in the energy sector.
He is an Engineering Manager in the Meter Engineering group at Southern California Edison (SCE) where he is primarily responsible for driving Industry product standards, product design requirements, and implementing quality management systems to ensure product safety, reliability and accuracy of meters, communication routers, customer facing energy management devices and other related equipment that are integral to SCE’s Advanced Metering Infrastructure.
In previous roles he managed the identification and evaluation of emerging technologies that support SCE’s transmission, distribution, and substation operational objectives, such as wildfire mitigation, distributed situational awareness, and EV Charging infrastructure efforts, through collaboration with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) National Laboratories, Industry, Clean Tech Incubators, StartUps, and top research universities.

Throughout his career he worked as an independent reviewer for the DOE Building Technology Office (BTO) on several funding opportunities focused on Emerging Technology, Energy Efficiency, and Advanced Manufacturing.

At SCE, he has also managed SCE’s Performance Based Retrofit Program for local governments, supported the development of strategies advancing California Building Decarbonization goals and supervised engineers working on utility energy efficiency projects encompassing industrial process optimization, HVAC system upgrades, and high-performance new building construction.

He previously served as President of the Association of Energy Engineers Southern California (AEE SoCal), was past President of the ASHRAE Southern California Chapter where he has been a board member since 2012 and at the national level lead the Energy Management Subcommittee of ASHRAE’s Building Energy Performance Technical Committee.

Mr. Chude has presented the benefits and challenges of deploying demand side management to small and large audiences, addressing the concerns of engineers, contractors, and building owners.

In an effort to inspire and develop a pipeline of qualified energy professionals ready to drive innovation in the energy sector, on his spare time, Ricson speaks on the theme of “Leadership in Engineering” to students and teaches an introductory course in Energy Management at community colleges.
In 2018, Mr. Chude was recognized as a Distinguished Alumni by the California State University of Los Angeles and honored with the Golden Eagle Award. That very same year he was appointed to lead the West Coast Regional Steering Committee of Engineers without Borders USA, a non-profit organization with nearly 300 chapters across the country.

Ricson Chude holds a Master of Science in Engineering Management from the California State Polytechnic University of Pomona, and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the California State University of Los Angeles. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of California and is recognized as a Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Certified Energy Auditor (CEA), and Certified Measurement and Verification Professional (CMVP) from the Association of Energy Engineers.
