Muhammad Omar Qasmi, MIET, is an energy and sustainability professional with over 17 years of experience across industrial, public, and humanitarian sectors. He currently serves as Category Manager (Energy) at UNHCR, where he leads global procurement frameworks for solar lanterns, streetlights, and hybrid systems, incorporating lifecycle assessment, circular economy principles, and sustainability standards. His career includes advisory roles with GIZ, PFAN/REEEP, and ZESCO, where he has advanced renewable energy, energy efficiency, and governance reforms. Omar is passionate about integrating technical excellence with social impact, having trained over 200 institutions on energy-saving opportunities and mentored professionals worldwide. He is a Member of the IET (MIET) and is pursuing Chartered Engineer (CEng) registration.
