AEE Stands in Support of ENERGY STAR to Ensure a Sustainable Energy Future

The Association of Energy Engineers proudly joins a coalition of leading energy organizations in signing a letter urging continued federal support for the ENERGY STAR program. As one of the most successful public-private partnerships in U.S. history, ENERGY STAR has played a vital role in driving energy efficiency innovation across industries, saving households billions in energy costs while enhancing grid stability and resilience.

Since its inception in 1992 ENERGY STAR has demonstrated remarkable success, delivering a significant return on taxpayer investment. With an annual budget of approximately $32 million—less than 1% of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) total spending—the program generates an estimated $40 billion in annual savings for U.S. consumers. Every dollar the federal government allocates to ENERGY STAR generates a staggering $350 in consumer savings.

Beyond financial benefits, ENERGY STAR strengthens the reliability of the energy grid by reducing peak demand and improving overall energy efficiency. In an era of increasing grid disruptions, ENERGY STAR-certified appliances, homes, buildings, and industrial facilities help mitigate risks by lowering strain on energy resources. These efficiency gains reduce ratepayers’ costs and enhance national energy security.
