Why Energy Auditing Is Central to Kuwait’s Net-Zero Strategy
As part of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, its subsidiary, Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), continues to advance capacity-building initiatives that strengthen sustainable energy practices across its operations. For the second time, and in collaboration with Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) Kuwait Chapter, KOC successfully delivered an intensive five-day training course on the Certified Energy Auditor (CEA) certification from January 11–15, 2026. The program brought together 25 selected professionals from KOC’s workforce, reinforcing the company’s strategic focus on energy efficiency and emissions reduction.
The CEA training plays a vital role in Kuwait’s human capital development by equipping engineers and technical professionals with advanced competencies in energy auditing, performance analysis, and identification of cost-effective energy conservation measures. Strengthening in-house auditing capabilities not only enhances operational efficiency within the oil and gas sector but also contributes meaningfully to national efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and optimize resource utilization. By investing in internationally recognized certifications, KOC is fostering a culture of technical excellence aligned with global best practices.
The course was led by Mr. Richard Costello, alongside three certified local trainers, reflecting a strong collaboration between international expertise and local knowledge. The successful delivery of this program underscores KOC’s continued trust in AEE certifications and its Kuwait Chapter as strategic partners in advancing professional development and supporting the country’s broader sustainability ambitions.
