Education & Work Experience
Applicants must meet one of the following eligibility criteria:

| Current status of Certified Energy Manager (CEM®), Certified Energy Auditor (CEA™), Certified Performance Contracting & Funding (PCF™), or Certified Renewable Energy Professional (REP™) |
*Related degree includes engineering, architecture, science, business, or related
** Related experience includes experience in project development, implementation, or management in energy generation/production systems
SPVP In-Training
If you do not meet one of the eligibility criteria above, you can still apply for an in-training certification, SPVPIT. In order to gain the in-training certification, you must attend a SPVP training program, submit the SPVPIT certification application under step two below, and pass the SPVP certification examination. The SPVPIT certification is valid for six years, which allows you time to meet the full SPVP certification eligibility requirements.

An intensive jobs task analysis was performed for the SPVP and a weighted percentage of topics was developed for the SPVP Body of Knowledge. The number of questions on the exam will align with the content percentages listed in the SPVP Body of Knowledge.
