Announcing the 2026 AEE Energy Managers Hall of Fame Inductees

AEE is excited to announce the 2026 Energy Managers Hall of Fame Inductees. Since 1990, the AEE Energy Managers Hall of Fame has honored outstanding leaders in the energy industry who over their lifetimes have made significant contributions to the field of energy management.

Please join us in congratulating Asit Patel and Ian Boylan as the 2026 AEE Energy Managers Hall of Fame Inductees. Both will be honored at the 2026 AEE World Energy Conference Closing Keynote Luncheon on Friday, September 18th at the Orlando, FL | Orange County Convention Center.

Asit Patel is an accomplished energy professional with more than 30 years of demonstrated leadership in the field. His career reflects a sustained commitment to improving building performance, advancing practical energy efficiency solutions, decarbonization strategies, and strengthening the professional capacity of the energy industry.

He has conducted or supervised hundreds of energy audits for multifamily buildings, ranging from six-unit properties to residential complexes with more than 1,800 units.

He has also prepared heating plant modernization and replacement specifications for more than 300 projects, with system capacities ranging from 200,000 Btuh to more than 25 million Btuh. These efforts have included conversions from Con Edison district steam to in-house boiler plants, as well as related construction oversight and commissioning that has supported improved reliability, efficiency, and long-term building performance.

A defining element of Asit’s career is his commitment to education and workforce development. He has provided training to more than 3,500 professionals, including building owners, facility managers, maintenance staff, contractors, engineers, and energy professionals.

Today, Asit continues to advance the profession through both instruction and implementation. He teaches the Energy Efficiency Practitioner (EEP) certification course for AEE and leads a team of energy engineers delivering innovative decarbonization projects throughout New York City while tackling complex challenges such as occupancy during construction, limited space, construction logistics, regulatory requirements, and constrained electrical infrastructure. This work reflects the practical, solutions-oriented leadership needed to accelerate building decarbonization in dense urban environments.

Asit holds the Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Certified Energy Auditor (CEA), and Existing Building Commissioning Professional (EBCP) credentials from the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE).

Asit’s contributions extend well beyond individual projects. An AEE member for almost three decades, he began volunteering with the New York City Chapter in 1999 and served as Chapter President from 2002 to 2003. He remains active on the Chapter’s Board of Directors.  He also served as AEE Region 1 Vice President and then was International President of the Association of Energy Engineers in 2016. He currently serves on the Certified Energy Auditor (CEA) Certification Board, where he continues to support the integrity and advancement of professional certification.

His leadership and service have been recognized by the profession, including AEE’s International Energy Professional Development Award in 2013 and as an AEE Fellow in 2022.
