QCI Certification
A Quality Control Inspector (QCI) is a residential energy efficiency expert who reviews, inspects, and verifies the appropriateness, quality, and completion of energy retrofit work by conducting site visits, performing diagnostic testing, and evaluating work practices and documentation to improve the indoor environment, safety, durability, comfort, and energy efficiency of the building for the client.
Prerequisites
Active BPI or AEE Home Energy Professional Energy Auditor (EA) Certification.
*For the pilot exam, if a candidate does not hold a current EA, they must meet the Energy Auditor (EA) pilot prerequisites AND take the EA pilot exams.
Note: Candidates who do not pass the EA pilot exams will not be eligible to receive the QCI certification.

Submit your application and register for the exam.
By submitting the application you’re applying for the certification and registering for the exams through remote proctoring. The application should be received by the certification department four weeks prior to the desired exam date. For additional information, visit the HEP QCI Candidate Handbook.
Multiple Choice Exam
The remote proctored multiple-choice exam is comprised of 50 questions that the candidate must successfully pass within a 2.5-hour limit.
