Artificial intelligence and large language models such as ChatGPT are rapidly becoming practical tools for energy professionals, helping streamline analyses, documentation, and communication across energy conservation projects. This webinar will demonstrate how AI can support common energy management tasks by showing how well-designed prompts and purpose-built Custom GPTs can help produce more accurate, consistent, and actionable technical outputs. Participants will receive links to five different Custom GPT tools, designed to support a different element of energy conservation work: audit screening, utility bill review, steam trap evaluation, motor tag review, and energy-savings idea generation. By the end of the discussion, participants will have a clearer understanding of how to integrate AI tools into daily energy management workflows to save time, improve consistency, and expand creative problem-solving.

Across the nation, K‑12 schools are grappling with aging infrastructure that drives up utility costs, worsens indoor air quality, and hinders student learning. This session introduces a strategic and financially viable path forward: Energy Savings Performance Contracting (PC), a results-driven mechanism that enables comprehensive facility renewal without upfront capital investment. The presentation outlines a holistic PC roadmap that optimizes every major building system. This approach integrates five critical components that together deliver long‑term performance and sustainability: High‑efficiency building systems; Targeted insulation, window, and roofing improvements; Integration of renewable energy solutions; Upgraded infrastructure; and Coordinated strategies to advance sustainability goals.
About the Presenter:
Saikrishna Ganesan, ME, CEM, is a Project Development Engineer at Performance Services where he leads investment-grade energy, water, and wastewater audits for K-12 schools, higher education, healthcare, and government facilities. His work focuses on uncovering data-driven conservation opportunities, developing cost-benefit assessments, and shaping integrated solutions that enhance building performance, reliability, and sustainability. He specialized in advanced analytics, energy baselining, strategic energy management, and the development of measurable, high-impact conservation strategies across sectors including food and beverage, aerospace, healthcare, foundries, plastics, automotive, universities, and data centers.

As energy costs rise and ventilation strategies evolve, engineers are rethinking how outdoor air impacts both HVAC system performance and indoor air quality. Join us for a webinar exploring ASHRAE Standard 62.1’s Indoor Air Quality Procedure (IAQP) and how performance-based ventilation strategies can help support cleaner indoor air in commercial buildings while reducing energy consumption and HVAC equipment demands. We will explore the differences between VRP and IAQP compliance pathways, when each ventilation strategy makes sense for a project, and how IAQP strategies can support improved occupant outcomes and align with WELL, LEED, and Fitwel goals.
About the Presenter:
Jason Jones is Director of Air Quality Management at Fellowes Brands. During Jason’s more than seven years with Fellowes, he has primarily worked with HVAC leaders, helping to solve problems while promoting solutions to help them optimize their spaces. Jason has played a crucial role in Fellowes’s go-to-market strategies, prioritizing relationships with decision-makers to ensure satisfaction and create meaningful connections that showcase the benefits of an IAQ partnership.

Most building energy systems don’t fail dramatically, but quietly, over time. In this session, Ilana Cember, PE, CEM at Brightworks Sustainability, will break down how ongoing monitoring-based commissioning can keep buildings operating the way they were meant to. Ilana will demystify the data (what to collect, how to interpret it, and how to turn insights into actionable fixes), share practical examples from real projects, and explore a wide range of HVAC air-side and water-side system configurations and control strategies through the lens of building automation system graphics. Participants will also learn the fundamentals of a client-focused approach for successful MBCx and then dive into air-side systems (AHUs, terminal units) and hydronic systems (chilled water and condenser water).
About the Presenter:
Ilana Cember is a licensed Professional Engineer and Certified Energy Manager at Brightworks Sustainability with a penchant for translating complex energy systems into plain language. With deep experience in building decarbonization, electrification strategy, and grid-interactive technologies, they spend their days helping clients cut carbon without cutting corners. Ilana’s work sits at the intersection of engineering pragmatism and climate optimism, a combination that makes them equally comfortable modeling building loads, explaining how the grid really works, or gently debunking persistent myths about electricity. When they’re not unraveling the mysteries of our energy system, they’re advocating solutions that make the clean-energy transition hilariously engaging, technically sound, and genuinely achievable.
