Boost Your Skills with Pepco’s Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Training Program

Pepco is making it easier for contractors and building operations personnel to gain the skills needed to improve energy efficiency in commercial and industrial facilities. Through the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Training program, eligible participants for a limited time can receive incentives that cover 100% of the cost of select training courses—up from $1,000 to $3,500—now through December 31, 2025.

Why It Matters

Energy use in buildings often comes down to how systems are managed day to day. By learning proven strategies for reducing and conserving energy, building staff can lower operating costs, improve reliability, and create more comfortable environments.

Who Can Apply

To qualify, participants must:

• Work at a commercial and/or industrial facility within the Pepco Maryland service territory.
• Spend at least 50% of their working hours at that facility.
• Employed in a position of responsibility for energy management of a facility or have the ability to influence the building’s energy performance.

Note: Incentives are limited to one course per person each year.

Eligible Training

Participants can choose from a directory of pre-qualified courses or submit non-listed courses for pre-approval by the program office. Recognized programs include nationally respected certifications offered by the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE), such as:

• Gestor Energético Certificado (CEM)
• Auditor Energético Certificado (CEA)
• Existing Building Commissioning Professional (EBCP)
• Profesional certificado en eficiencia de iluminación (CLEP)
• Practicante de Eficiencia Energética (EEP)
• Programa de Capacitación en Línea de Fundamentos de Auditoría Energética
• Programa de Capacitación en Línea del Plan Maestro de Gestión Efectiva de la Energía 

Como participar

• Register for a course from the pre-approved directory (or submit one for approval).
• Apply for incentives through the O&M Training online application.
• Complete the training and submit paperwork and invoices to the program within six months of the pre-approval date.
