Certification News: USAID CEA Project in Mongolia

To promote resilience, economic growth, and human development in Mongolia through energy reform, the USAID funded Mongolia Energy Governance Activity (MEG) to strengthen the enabling environment for private investment and stimulate the market for clean and affordable energy.  

The Mongolia Energy Governance Activity has a national focus on policy, regulatory, and institutional reforms and works with national government agencies. The activity will also focus on improving air pollution and electricity and heat service delivery at the sub-national level. 

The MEG Activity aims to promote self-reliance in Mongolia by bolstering energy sector governance. The activity encourages the development, implementation, and adherence to existing laws related to competitive and transparent processes to:

1. Incentivize private investment.
2. Boost the use of new advanced energy generation and management technologies.
3. Increase resilience to natural and human-induced shocks (including cyberattacks).
4. Promote a secure, stable, diversified, modern, and self-reliant Mongolian energy sector.  

Over 50 applications were screened, and 25 energy professionals were selected to attend the Certified Energy Auditor (CEA) in Mongolia. This training for local energy auditors will help establish a sustainable program of energy audits and strengthen local counterparts to provide this service. Mr. Clint Christenson delivered the training during the live course held from 15 May to 21 May 2023 in Ulaanbaatar City.
