45 Governments Rally Behind IEA’s Call to Double Global Energy Efficiency by 2030

The Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) recently participated in the prestigious 8th annual Energy Efficiency conference organized by the International Energy Agency (IEA) in Versailles, France.

The invitation-only conference brought together government officials, industry leaders, and professional organizations like AEE to collaborate on achieving ambitious energy efficiency goals. One of the key takeaways from the event was the endorsement by 45 governments to double global energy efficiency progress by 2030, a crucial step towards a cleaner and more sustainable future.

AEE is a non-profit professional organization dedicated to serving our members and other industry professionals who are working to improve energy efficiency to save energy, reduced GHGs, make buildings and industry perform better, and help reach global goals for net-zero.  AEE’s vision is to lead the global energy community to meet the challenges of a clean and sustainable future.

AEE was represented by Mary Elise Cox, International Development Director and Hicham Lahmidi, Vice President for International Member Development for Western Europe and AEE France Chapter President.  They connected with AEE supporters and partners at the event and had the opportunity to share the mission of AEE with new connections. The most encouraging interactions came from bringing awareness to government representatives about existing AEE Chapters in their own countries, providing an immediate support system for them of energy experts qualified to support their initiatives in meaningful ways.

AEE’s focus on information sharing, best practices, training, and certification in energy efficiency is crucial, as qualified professionals are needed to implement and maintain energy-efficient practices in buildings and industries and meet the critical energy and climate challenges we face.

Doubling energy efficiency by 2030 is an ambitious but necessary goal, and AEE’s tens of thousands of global members and certified professionals are a core network of efficiency experts equipped to take on this challenge.  Working towards a sustainable future is a responsibility that we all share, and it’s encouraging to see this ambitious goal endorsed at the IEA event last week.

AEE would like to make our own commitment to contribute to this challenge, by proposing AEE members and certified professionals consider their roles and capabilities and personally commit to doubling their energy efficiency by 2030.  Look for more from AEE on this in the coming weeks.
