Certified Energy Manager (CEM®) Program Recognized by U.S. Department of Energy

The Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) is proud to announce that its Certified Energy Manager® (CEM®) certification has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) as an ‘Energy Skilled’ organization in the category of Home Energy Audit – Multifamily. This significant achievement emphasizes AEE’s commitment to promoting energy efficiency and equipping professionals with the knowledge and skills to excel in the field.

The Gold Standard in Energy Management Certification for Over 40 Years

The CEM is the industry’s most respected certification, empowering professionals to make meaningful progress on sustainability goals while helping organizations reduce costs and boost competitiveness.

Globally Recognized: Trusted by top companies and institutions around the world.
Decades of Proven Impact: With over 40 years of results, CEMs have saved energy, reduced emissions, and driven innovation across every sector.
Built for Leadership: The CEM sets the benchmark for expertise, preparing professionals to drive effective, measurable change.

DOE Partners with Search Engines

The ‘Energy Skilled’ recognition is part of a collaborative initiative between the DOE and major search engine organizations, supported by the DOE’s Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL). PNNL is tasked with helping operate this recognition program and working directly with search engines to highlight companies employing certified professionals. As a result, companies with CEM-certified individuals now have the opportunity to gain increased visibility in search results—boosting both credibility and reach.

Benefits of ‘Energy Skilled’ Recognition

The ‘Energy Skilled’ designation offers several advantages to CEMs and their employers, including:

Increased Visibility: Stand out in search engine results and attract more business opportunities.
Enhanced Credibility: Display the prestigious DOE ‘Energy Skilled’ badge in your company’s search listings.
Competitive Advantage: Be identified as part of a leading credential program recognized for excellence in energy management.

Maximize Your Recognition

AEE encourages all companies with Certified Energy Managers to take full advantage of this recognition. By participating in the program, companies can showcase their expertise, commitment to sustainability, and readiness to meet the growing demand for energy-efficient solutions.
