Dr. Geri Richmond, Under Secretary for Science and Innovation at the Department of Energy, Delivers Keynote Address at AEE World Conference

Nashville, TN, September 25, 2024 — Today, Dr. Geri Richmond, Under Secretary for Science and Innovation at the Department of Energy (DOE), delivered a keynote address to an audience of over 1,800 energy leaders and innovators at the Association of Energy Engineers annual conference, AEE World.

In her address, Dr. Richmond highlighted the critical role that energy efficiency and decarbonization play in achieving a sustainable future. “Energy efficiency provides the greatest opportunities for near-term decarbonization solutions, and in many cases, does not require major changes to industrial processes,” Dr. Richmond said. “However, many barriers still prevent the market-ready investments we need today in U.S. manufacturing which is why we are investing in tailored technical assistance and workforce development programs. These programs leverage energy efficiency measures and renewable energy measures to help manufacturers save money, reduce emissions, and maximize the potential of existing grid resources.”
