Energy Consumption During the COVID-19 Pandemic

A global state of emergency in 210 countries has affected all walks of life. With shelter-in-place orders closing factories, offices, schools, and other large buildings, the energy requirements in most areas have declined. These sudden changes are having a profound impact on the energy sectors at different levels in each country. Italy reported a drop in energy consumption of about 27%, and energy usage in the US has fallen to a 16-year low. Major sectors like Aviation, Transportation, Energy Generation and Renewable Energy Systems, Commercial and Residential, are experiencing significant changes that require a new need for flexibility.

Energy engineers will be in high demand to provide unique solutions, now and in the future.
