Bluetooth mesh networking offers numerous benefits for a wireless, intelligent lighting control infrastructure that is flexible enough to scale and adjust well into the future. To date, few actual installations exist in North America and virtually all of them involve indoor lighting. In this session, the presenter will walk attendees through some of the first Bluetooth mesh networked control projects involving outdoor lighting. Attendees will get an up close and personal look at the selection criteria, the installation and commissioning process, and the early lessons learned by these project teams.

Learning Objective #1: Attendees will acquire an understanding of basic Bluetooth mesh networking technology: how it works, best application fits, expected operational challenges and expected operational successes.

Learning Objective #2: Presenter will describe the drivers and the selection criteria around the project teams’ decision to implement an intelligent control network based on Bluetooth mesh.

Learning Objective #3: Attendees will gain an understanding of an actual commissioning process of a project involving different vendors and understand the security aspects of Bluetooth mesh networking.

Learning Objective #4: Presenter will share perspectives on the scalability of Bluetooth mesh networking technology, based on project findings, and potential implications for the lighting marketplace.
