This includes AEE&#8217;s\u00a0CEM,\u00a0CBCP and\u00a0CMVP certifications.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Government of Alberta<\/strong><br \/>The <a href=\"https:\/\/open.alberta.ca\/dataset\/34c1f0c2-8b89-4e56-bfaf-32a957f5ffe3\/resource\/2b804750-157c-48dc-b987-81cac2ccc115\/download\/energyefficiencyprojects-jun18-2018.pdf\"> Quantification Protocol for Energy Efficiency Projects Version 2.0, June 2018<\/a>\u00a0requires\u00a0the\u00a0Protocol\u00a0to\u00a0be applied\u00a0either\u00a0by\u00a0a\u00a0CEM\u00a0or\u00a0a\u00a0CMVP.<\/p>\n<p><strong>IESO<\/strong><br \/>The CMVP is listed\u00a0as a highly advisable status under EM&amp;V Protocols and Requirements and also recognized as a type of qualifying certification in I<a href=\"https:\/\/saveonenergy.ca\/Training-and-Support\/Training-Incentives\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ESO&#8217;s Incentive Program for Building System Audits<\/a>.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<h4>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tMiddle East\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/h4>\n\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>Lebanon<\/strong><br \/>For an ESCO to be approved by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.icu.it\/progetti\/reestart-renewable-energy-and-energy-efficiency-for-sustainable-growth\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ICU (Istituto per la Cooperazione Universitaria)<\/a> in Lebanon, one or more of its full-time staff should hold the following certifications among them:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or a Certified Energy Auditor (CEA) and<br \/>\u2022 Certified Measurement and Verification Professional (CMVP) and<br \/>\u2022 Performance Contracting and Funding Professional (PCF)<\/p>\n<p>An ESCO will have its approval withdrawn or suspended if it doesn&#8217;t maintain the above pre-qualification requirements<\/p>\n<p><strong>Saudi Arabia<\/strong><br \/>CMVP is one certifications now required for the licensing of energy efficiency companies in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under the regulation of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seec.gov.sa\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Saudi Energy Efficiency Center (SEEC)<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>United Arab Emirates<\/strong>\u00a0<br \/>The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.rsbdubai.gov.ae\/esco-accreditation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RSB (Government of Dubai, RSB for Electricity &amp; Water)<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/rsbdubai.gov.ae\/media\/o0vlblsp\/documentation-for-the-bemas-12.pdf\">Regulatory and Supervisory Bureau for the Electricity and Water Sectors Building Energy Management Accreditation Scheme June 2021<\/a>, new applicants for Provisional Accreditation will require a CMVP in addition to either a CEA or a CEM.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<h4>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tOceania\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/h4>\n\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>Australia<\/strong>\u00a0<br \/>As of June 2017, the CMVP designation was inscribed into the scheme for Project Based Activities in Victorian Law. The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/content.legislation.vic.gov.au\/sites\/default\/files\/2025-08\/17-46sra004-authorised.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Victorian Energy Efficiency Target (Project-Based Activities) Regulations 2017<\/a>\u00a0states that any independent assessor on M&amp;V projects must be registered as an approved Measurement and Verification Professional by the Essential Services Commission (ESC). Professionals who wish to be approved as a Measurement and Verification Professional must hold and maintain a current CMVP certification status. Any professional providing assessments on M&amp;V projects must maintain all requirements set forth under this regulation.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<h4>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tSub-Saharan Africa\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/h4>\n\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>South Africa<\/strong><br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.saiee.org.za\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The South African Institute of Electrical Engineers (SAIEE)<\/a>\u00a0has granted Engineering Council of South Africa (ESCA) Continued Professional Development (CPD) credits for persons taking AEE&#8217;s international CEM, CEA, CMVP, CWEP, and REP programs.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<h4>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tLatin America\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/h4>\n\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>Brazil<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to the Normative Resolution of the National Electric Energy Agency &#8211; ANEEL No. 920, of February 23, 2021, which approves the Procedures of the Energy Efficiency Program &#8211; PROPEE and regulates investments in energy efficiency to be carried out by electric energy concessionaires in Brazil, in its Module 8 &#8211; Measurement and Verification of Results (determines the procedures for a reliable evaluation of the energy benefits obtained with the projects) establishes the obligation to have a Measurement &amp; Verification Plan in energy efficiency projects.
