Cultivating Tomorrow: AEE’s Vision for 2024
Dear AEE Family,
As we step into 2024, I extend a warm welcome to every one of you who form an integral part of the AEE community. Your support, engagement, and dedication to our mission make all the difference in our journey towards a more sustainable and energy-efficient world.
As we navigate the evolving landscape of the energy sector, we embrace the spirit of collaboration and innovation that has defined AEE throughout the years. 2023 was a year of significant achievements and learning, setting a solid foundation for the new initiatives we plan to embark on this coming year. This past year, we championed sustainability by transitioning membership, certification, and event attendance certificates to become digital. We also launched the 50001-CP certification program and the Climate Action Certificate program. At AEE Headquarters, we installed a solar PV system and EV chargers, earning our carbon-neutral status and solidifying our commitment to carbon neutrality.
On the global stage, we embarked on a Trade Mission to Iceland, Norway, and Finland, forging valuable partnerships and connections. AEE World 2023 resonated with the powerful voice of our Keynote Speaker, Former Vice President Al Gore and our active participation at COP 28, with an eight-member delegation and contributions to over ten panels, solidified our position as a vital voice in the global climate dialogue.
As we set our sights on 2024, I am thrilled to share a few of our upcoming initiatives and plans that promise to make this year even more impactful. Expanding our global reach remains a cornerstone of our mission. In 2024, we will build on an initiative from COP 28 to double the rate of energy efficiency globally to achieve climate goals and targets. Highlighting the tangible impact of energy efficiency projects through carbon reduction data will be a key focus. In doing so, we will increase AEE’s presence within the global climate community, as we are a key part of the solution to achieve global carbon reduction. Participating in key industry events like COP 29 in Azerbaijan and the IEA Global Conference on Energy Efficiency in Kenya will further connect us with like-minded individuals and organizations. Our plans for 2024 include launching AEE Technical Summits in strategic locations worldwide that will further promote knowledge sharing and collaboration. We will also actively participate in AEE Chapter events, including the AEE Hungary Chapter’s 25th anniversary conference and the AEE Spain Chapter’s iENER and the IYCE (Intl Youth Conference on Energy) conferences. We’ll work with State Energy Offices and Federal Agencies in the US to bolster workforce development programs. And, of course, we eagerly anticipate hosting AEE West in Bellevue, WA, from May 1-2 and AEE World in Nashville, TN, from September 25-27.
We’ll continue to nurture existing partnerships with our 37 training partners worldwide, welcoming ADENE in Portugal as a new collaborator, and deliver our training programs in person, virtually, and on-demand while offering certification assessments both in person and remotely. The year ahead also witnesses the rollout of an updated CEM program, resulting from a 5-year JTA and Body of Knowledge confirmation, a testament to our dedication to staying at the forefront of energy engineering knowledge.
It’s going to be an exciting year ahead!
Our commitment to excellence remains unwavering, and I encourage each one of you to stay engaged, share your ideas, and contribute to our collective mission as we take on new projects and initiatives. We aim to engage more deeply with the global climate community, fostering a dialogue that leads to real and lasting change. Together, we can address the challenges of energy efficiency and sustainability, creating a better world for future generations.
The AEE team wishes you a prosperous and fulfilling 2024. Here’s to another year of shared success and growth.
