You
can participate in the seminar from your office, home, or anywhere you
have access to the internet and a phone. You'll have opportunities to
interact with your instructor and colleagues in real time during the three
live teleconferencing sessions. ABOUT
THE SEMINAR Engines: We will begin with a review of engine technology used in distributed generation. Both spark-ignited and diesel cycle engines will be covered, along with a variety of fuel options, both liquid and gaseous. The use of engines in distributed generation is a longstanding practice, yet the technology continues to improve. Microturbines: We then explore turbine technology and the development of microturbines. You'll then learn in more detail how microturbines function, and why this technology is such an important development. Fuel Cells: Next we will proceed to an overview of fuel cell technologies now available for commercial, industrial and institutional projects, including coverage of each of the major types of fuel cells and how they are optimally applied. Current equipment manufacturers and packaged-system vendors will be reviewed, along with sources of additional product information. Advantages and disadvantages of stand-alone power production, and of combined heat and power applications will be covered as well. The applications of distributed generation technologies will also be discussed, covering how and where distributed generation systems are optimally applied, and their use as an option now available to commercial, institutional and industrial energy users for self-generation of electricity. Several installation examples will be reviewed. Finally, you'll learn how to assess project economics, and where ongoing developmental programs are headed. To view seminar
