THE SEMINAR The concept of an intelligent building has been a grand idea pursued ever since computers were first used in building operations. But what exactly is an "intelligent building"? In the 1980s the definition was limited by the immaturity of communications and artificial intelligence technologies then available. Many building projects heralded at that time as "intelligent" generally became viewed as less than successful. Fortunately, the last two decades have seen extraordinary advances in the technologies available to render buildings operationally intelligent. Communications (including the internet) and artificial intelligence technologies have now reached a level of maturity which makes possible both an important transformation in building design, and the achievement of truly intelligent buildings. The LEED certification program's goal of "transforming the building market" has also become an important driving force, helping finally to make the intelligent building a reality. This two-hour seminar gives you the opportunity to learn from a leading expert about the key aspects of intelligent building technology, and how they can be used in a LEED certification program. This course assumes a fundamental understanding of LEED certification basics. For those who may wish to review the basics of LEED certification prior to taking this program, AEE also offers the online seminar, Sustainable Green Buildings: Introduction to LEED.
