These two dynamic
programs are designed to provide energy and facility professionals with
a fundamental understanding of the key provisions of the Energy Policy Act
of 2005. Together they will examine both the tax incentive provisions for
all types of facilities and the mandated energy efficiency and renewable
energy requirements for federal buildings.

1: The Energy Policy Act of 2005 has provided substantial tax
incentives to encourage the achievement of higher levels of energy
efficiency in both new and existing buildings, and to increase the
application of renewable energy sources. This course is intended to
give you the specific information and tools you'll need to understand
and take advantage of the Act's tax incentives, either for your own
facilities or for facilities of clients for whom you may provide technical
and financial assistance and advice. While primarily focused on the
incentives specific to private business and industry, this seminar
also provides integration of the tax incentives with the federal requirements
of the Act for those private sector participants who work with federal
clients. The Energy Policy Act of 2005 represents the first major
change in comprehensive national energy policy in over a decade, and
a clear understanding of its contents and benefits is essential to
anyone working in the energy field.

2: The Energy Policy Act of 2005 mandates increasingly higher
levels of energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy sources
- in both new and existing federal facilities. This new federal law
requires that federal facility managers significantly improve the
energy efficiency of existing and new buildings, increase the use
of renewable energy sources, purchase energy efficient equipment,
and meter and manage their facilities more closely. Responding to
these requirements will present an important challenge for federal
facility managers - and a mutually beneficial opportunity for the
private sector to provide the resources and expertise needed to meet
them. This seminar, first of all, is designed to provide federal energy
engineers and facility managers with useful information, tools and
resources to guide them in meeting these new challenges. In addition,
it also aims to give private engineers, contractors and others who
provide technical services and equipment for federal facilities, a
better understanding of the various pertinent Act clauses, and to
recommend ways in which they can help federal personnel in the most
efficient way.
