Region V has had many exciting developments in 2002. Thanks to all the AEE members in our region who have supported the many dynamic community, educational and professional programs!

In the background, foundation work is being done to foster the creation of new chapters within the Region.

Representatives and officers from all of the existing Region V chapters enjoyed networking and sharing ideas in our newly created Region V message and chat room (http://www.aeecenter.org, sign up for the message and chat room and check our our site for Region V). Support and networking at the Region V chat meeting fostered the development of more 2002 scholarship program participation among several chapters and schools in California. Many thanks to Mr. Good (our International VP) and folks at National for the creation of communication tools that help us gather members from many states together for the common good.

Region V is very proud to announce the formation of a new student chapter created through a partnership between DeAnza Community College's Energy Management & Technology Program and the Silicon Valley Chapter. The SV AEE chapter unveiled a new TIPs (Technical Input from Professionals) mentoring program to the 22 students from Stanford University and DeAnza Community College attended. The SV chapter received 10 AEE scholarship applications at the first meeting. Many thanks to Steve Murphy, our sponsoring professor, for supporting the creation of this chapter.
