Objectives To raise the professional standards of those engaged in energy auditing. To improve the practice of energy auditors by encouraging energy auditing in a continuing education program of professional development. To identify persons with acceptable knowledge of the principles and practices of energy auditing through completing an examination and fulfilling prescribed standards of performance and conduct. To award special recognition to those energy auditing professionals who have demonstrated a high level of competence and ethical fitness in energy auditing.
Master's Level CEA Eligibility Requirements Applicant must meet one of the following qualification criteria:
Examination and Training Requirement All Master’s level CEA candidates must attend the Advanced Energy Auditing preparatory training seminar, and complete and pass the four-hour written Master’s Level CEA examination, proctored by an AEE-approved exam administrator. Information on seminar training options is provided below. Master’s Level CEA examination questions are drawn from areas of knowledge such as ASHRAE Type I and II Audits, Investment Grade Audits, Auditing Tools and Software, and Retro-Commissioning. The exam is open book, and questions are a mixture of multiple choice and true/false. A passing score of at least 70% is required in conjunction with meeting all other eligibility requirements to become certified.

How to Apply for Master's Level CEA Certification
STEP ONE: REGISTER FOR THE AEE MASTER'S LEVEL CEA SEMINAR
All Master’s Level CEA candidates are required to complete the 4-day live Advanced Energy Auditing training program at one of its scheduled locations. Note: Registering for the seminar does not automatically register you for the Master’s Level CEA exam. After completing your seminar registration, return to this page, and go to STEP TWO. The CEA exam is administered at each Advanced Energy Auditing seminar site, on the afternoon of the last day of the seminar.
