Wisconsin Chapter (WAEE) received their official chapter charter on May 23, 2007. The chapter has grown rapidly. In 2008, WAEE was recognized as the Chapter with the most new members. The Chapter has 105 local members and 182 national members. Members represent more than 100 major Wisconsin manufacturing, commercial, contractor, government, schools, and various private businesses. Most Wisconsin utility companies are represented along with non-profit organizations.
MEETINGS:
We meet as a Chapter every 4th Wednesday. The focus on meetings is NETWORKING, EDUCATION, and hands-on TOURS of energy efficiency in action. Chapter members have toured and been educated on:
- Mercury Marine’s “industry leading” central compressed air system
- Alliant Energy’s 100 MW Combustion Turbine site
- Fond du Lac High School's geothermal system
- LEED Certified Buildings: J.F. Ahern’s, Hunzinger University (Construction), Kohl's Photo
Studio, Environmental Systems, Inc. (ESI), and Wisconsin Energy Conservation Consortium
- Quad Graphics' LEED certified manufacturing facility (and we learned of this amazing process)
- A-A Exteriors’ zero-emission home
- Werner Electric headquarters
- SoftSwitching and Pearson Engineering's innovative approach to energy savings
- Sprecher Brewery and Ingersoll-Rand compressed air efficient processes
- Sheboygan Wastewater Treatment Plant and Aerotec
- Milwaukee School of Engineering PV experiment
- West Allis Hale High School heat recovery
- Kaukauna hydro-electric plants
- Kohler Company's industrial energy initiatives
We have conducted joint meetings with the Wisconsin Public Utility Institute at UW-Madison and Wisconsin Industrial Energy Group at the American Transmission Company. We are working to coordinate a meeting in 2011 with ASHRAE. And socially, we take in a Milwaukee Brewers game each year on the Dew Deck... Now that is energy-intensive in a good way!!!
WAEE Scholarships
The Wisconsin Chapter of the Association of Energy Engineers (WAEE) was formed in 2007 and has rapidly progressed as a leader in the state and nation. WAEE established a scholarship program to help support and sustain the young Wisconsin talent needed to develop an energy efficient state and society, and presented those awards on January 27, 2010, at a meeting held at the Milwaukee Area Technical College. The primary goal of the scholarship is to financially support students pursuing engineering, business, and technical careers with emphasis on energy efficiency, energy management, energy conservation, renewable energy, or other energy-related fields. Each recipient received a check for $500. The 2009 WAEE Scholarship recipients are:
