AEE's
Certified Green Building Engineer (GBE) program
awards special recognition to those green building, design and construction
engineering professionals who have demonstrated a high level of competence
and ethical fitness for green building related disciplines, as well
as laws governing and affecting green building professionals.
Program
Objectives

To
raise the professional standards of those engaged in green building
engineering, design and construction

To
improve the practice of green building engineering by encouraging
professionals in a continuing program of professional development

To
identify persons with acceptable knowledge of the principles and practices
of green building engineering related disciplines and laws
governing and affecting professionals by meeting prescribed standards
of performance and conduct

To
award special recognition to those Green Building Engineers who have
demonstrated a high level of competence and ethical fitness for green
building engineering, design and construction.
Eligibility
Green Building Engineers with the following prerequisites may apply:

A
Professional Engineering (PE) License (*U.S. only)
--AND--
-
A
Certified Energy Manager (CEM®) Registration. Click

Required Body of Knowledge
The effective practice of Green Building Engineering requires an
in-depth knowledge of a wide variety of subjects. For certification
purposes, only individuals who have completed the Certified
Energy Manager training program requirement, and have successfully
passed the CEM examination and hold a current U.S. issued Professional
Engineer licence may apply.
How
to Apply for GBE Certification
The first step in the GBE application process is to complete and
submit the application below. Certification is based on being both a P.E.
and a C.E.M. Application must indicate current P.E. license number, state(s)
in which candidate is licensed as a PE, and CEM® registration number.

Professional Engineers must complete the CEM certification process before
applying for GBE certification. For information on applying for

Fees
An application
fee of $250.00 is payable with the filing of the application.
Use of the GBE Designation
A Certified Green Building Engineer (GBE) may use the designation
with his/her name on organization letterhead or business cards. Certification
is for individuals only. The GBE designation may not be used
to imply that an organization is certified.
Maintaining
Certification
GBE certification is only valid withthe maintenance of current status
of Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and a U.S.-issued Professional Engineers
(PE) license. Once you have attained GBE status, renewal of your GBE
certification will take place at the same time your CEM is renewed.
RENEWAL
FEE
When CEM® certification is renewed every three years at the regular
CEM® renewal rate of $200.00 and documentation is provided confirming
P.E. licence remains current, the GBE certification will also
be renewed for a discounted fee of $125.00 (except for grandfather clause
participants, who will not pay GBE renewal fees). No refunds allowed.
